C-suite, director and fractional roles

This page lists the senior roles we are currently recruiting for: permanent, interim and fractional positions from Sales Director, Operations Director and Head of Operations up to CEO, CFO, CTO, COO and Managing Director, alongside non-executive, chair and Senior Manager Function roles in regulated firms. Each card shows the type of role, where it is based and whether it is still open, and roles posted in the last two weeks are marked “New”. Live roles are shown first; choose “All roles, including closed” to see the searches we have recently completed.

Many senior appointments are made through a confidential search and are never advertised, so registering with us matters as much as applying for a listed role. When you register, we keep your details in confidence and call you when a search fits your experience, location and package expectations. Our executive salary guide sets out what senior roles pay.

Executive jobs: what to expect

Most of the roles we handle sit in or just below the leadership team of a trading business: the people who set the strategy, run the operation and answer to a board or investors for the results. Typical titles are Chief Executive, Managing Director, CFO and Finance Director, COO and Operations Director, CTO and CIO, Sales and Commercial Director, CMO and HR Director. We also recruit non-executive directors and chairs, and Senior Manager Function holders for firms regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Senior employers look closely at what has changed because of your work: revenue grown, costs taken out, a team built, a fundraise or sale completed, a regulator satisfied. A clear CV that shows the size of the business, what you were responsible for and the results you delivered makes a real difference, as does a referee who can speak to the same outcomes. For regulated roles, firms also check whether you have held a Senior Manager Function before and how the approval went; our SMF roles guide explains what each designation involves.

Not every senior role is full-time and permanent. Interim executives cover a departure, a turnaround or a defined project and often start within weeks. Fractional executives give a growing business board-level experience for one to three days a week, at a fraction of the cost of a full-time hire. If you want that kind of flexibility, see our pages on interim and fractional executive roles, and register so we can call you when a suitable assignment comes in.

Join our network of fractional and interim executives

If you are an experienced CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, commercial leader or HR Director who wants more variety, we would like to hear from you. Founders, scale-ups and private equity-backed businesses increasingly want senior leadership for a few days a week or for a fixed period, rather than a full-time appointment. That suits executives building a portfolio career, working with several businesses at once, or moving from a full-time role towards board and advisory work.

We match fractional and interim executives with businesses across the UK. Assignments typically cover preparing for investment or a sale, leading a turnaround, building a function the business has outgrown, or bridging the gap while a permanent appointment is made. Our guide to what a fractional executive does explains how these roles work, and you can register your interest through our candidate registration page.

Exec Capital is part of FD Capital Group, five specialist recruitment firms with a shared network of senior leaders, many of whom also hold non-executive roles. Fractional CFO and Finance Director searches often run alongside our sister firm FD Capital, and board appointments alongside NED Capital. If you are hiring for your own leadership team, see our executive search service or tell us about the role using the form below.
